The Dubious Gift of Life: Antinatalism in Poems and Essays
ロシア生まれドイツ育ちのドイツ人Youtuber, Clear MindことSimon Levin氏が2021年に出版した詩編。このままポエトリーリーディングとかラップにしても映えそうだな～と思っていたらPodcastで著者本人がそれっぽく読み上げていたし、反出生主義者のラッパーMistro氏からの影響を公言していて合点がいきました。
Mistro氏以外の反出生主義者からも受けたであろう影響を滲ませながらユーモアと皮肉を織り交ぜた文体で子供を生むことの愚かさ、そして人を真実から目を背けさせる現代社会の毒が解体されていきます。NetflixやDisney Plusを糾弾している箇所はストリーミングにどっぷりつかっている身としては胸が痛かったですwそんな感じにシリアス一辺倒ではなく黒い笑いを浮かべてしまうような愉快なトラップがちらほらと。
著者が22歳までキリスト教信者だったようで、上述のPodcastで洗脳されていたようなものと個人的に述懐していたのもあって、聖書からの引用、そして反対に啓示への反論もちょくちょく積極的になされています。反面、「現代思想」を読んだ後では仏教への視点は輪廻からの解脱にフォーカスされすぎていてちょっと一面的かなあと。
ワードチョイスは全体的に比較的平易で、また、ちょくちょく解説も挟まれているので詩のことが全く分からない人間にも本作は読みやすく最終ページまで詰まらずたどり着けました。最後に幾つか特に面白かった箇所を引用しておきます。

Obviously, not all of love is between men and women, it is also present between homosexuals, parents and children, family members, friends, etc. which does not result in offspring. But there is one thing they all have in common: They are the result of a special chemistry between individuals leading to feelings. There is nothing beyond hormones in our bodies making us hate or love one another.
